The Wildcats’ baseball team has been playing much better baseball as of late and started off the week by defeating Southmoore Monday 11-8, and again Tuesday 8-7.
On Monday at Southmoore, the Wildcats were tied heading into the 7th inning, when an error opened the door for a 4-run 7th for the Wildcats. Ponca City also had a big 4th inning scoring five runs with an RBI single by Tanner Denton and an error on a ball hit by Eli Wohl. Carson Shook got the victory for the Wildcats, allowing one hit and one run over two-thirds innngs, striking out one and walking one in relief. Wohl led the Wildcats going 3-5 at the plate with one RBI. Tanner Denton, PO Seals, and Aaron Hosack all had 2-RBI’s in the game.
On Tuesday, the Wildcats scored seven runs over the final two innings to comeback from an early deficit. With the game tied up at 7, PO Seals came through in the clutch with an RBI single to put the Wildcats up for good 8-7. Seals ended the game going 3-for-4 at the plate with 4 RBI’s. Tanner Denton got the win for the Wildcats. He allowed ten hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out one. Casey Anderson threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen and recorded the last three outs to earn the save. Ponca City had 9 total hits also getting RBI’s from Denton, Cody Ryan and Aaron Hosack.
The Wildcats’ record now sits at 7-18 on the season, with two games against Enid and one against Bixby coming up on the schedule.
