The Ponca City Lady Cats started off with 18-0 run against the 8th ranked team in 5A, Carl Albert Lady Titans and went on to a 60-41 win. The Lady Cats were red hot in the opening quarter. The defense created 9 turnovers early and swarmed the Lady Titans offense. Ponca City would finish the 1st qt with a 21-3 lead. In the second, the Lady Cats would let Carl Albert back in with several turnovers of their own, but still held a sizeable halftime lead 33-16. Baylee Fincher was facilitating the offense all night finding wide open players for easy buckets. Fincher also led the team with 20 points. Madison Birnbaum also finished with double digits for the 3rd straight game with 10 pts, Ryley Beard knocked down two triples as she is still getting back into form from an injury. Karis Branstetter is usually handing out assists but showed she can be an offensive presence as well scoring 7 points. Julissa Garcia once again got into early foul trouble but still chipped in 6 points. The most impressive performance may have been on the defensive end where the Lady Cats held leading scorer Dava Guy to 15, most of those coming when the game was already out of hand. The Lady Cats had (unofficial) double digit assists and nearly 30 rebounds. Ponca City will have a rematch with Sand Springs tomorrow (Friday) after getting beat by the Lady Sandites early in the season.

Ponca City now 8-4.
