After less than two years at the helm as Ponca City’s Athletic Director, Jared Freeman has announced his resignation.

“I have resigned my position as Athletic Director and accepted a position in administration at Morrison Public Schools,” Freeman said in a statement.

Freeman’s new position will be that of Assistant Principal and will also include an opportunity to help with the baseball and softball teams.

“This was a difficult decision to make, but I am excited about the opportunity to grow professionally in a new administrative role, while also having the opportunity to get back into coaching. I have missed teaching and working with students the last few years.”

Freeman has been on the forefront of many changes in Ponca City Athletics in his short tenure, helping guide the department through recent renovations from the bond passage in 2015.

He was recently key in the hiring of new Ponca City football coach Scott Harmon, and instrumental in the creation of a position for a strength and conditioning coach filled by Garrett Bayliff.

No official statement has been made by Ponca City Public Schools at this time, but the opening has been posted on the school website.

We will share more information as it becomes available.
