The Ponca City Wildcats will look for win number two on the road for the third straight week at Norman. The Wildcats are 1-7 overall, 1-4 in district play, while the Norman Tigers are winless on the season at 0-8. This will not be a district matchup. While the road has not been kind recently to the Wildcats, coming off back to back losses to Bixby and Sapulpa, their lone win was a road game earlier this season at Bartlesville. While it has been a frustrating season overall, the players continue to show heart and fight. The Wildcats should also go into this game with some confidence knowing this is a very winnable ballgame against a Norman team under first year head coach Rocky Martin. Some of the final scores may not indicate it but, the Wildcats continue to put up good numbers offensively. QB Justin Andrews has thrown for over 1300 yds and 6 td’s, nearly half of those yards going to Senior WR Dustin Vogele who has 635 yds receiving and 5 td’s. Andrews also leads the ground attack with 412 yds and 4 scores, but the emergence of Jacob Defoor, 216 yds, has added a new dimension for the running game. Defensively, both Daylan Hawkins and Abram Arechiga are nearing the 100 tackle mark, and could go over that number in this game. Sophomore DE Lennox Suneagle leads the team with 5 QB sacks and 11 tackles for loss. Eli Wohl has been around the ball consistently in the passing game, leading the team with 3 Int’s. This will be a big game for the Wildcats heading into their final contest of the season when they play at home against Muskogee on senior night November 3rd.
