While there were many positives in the game, too many costly mistakes resulted in the third consecutive road loss for the Wildcats as they were defeated by the Norman Tigers 28-14. Because of an illness, Norman’s regular starting QB Cade Horton didn’t play, so the Tigers went to the running game and controlled the clock and the yardage throughout. RB Traevon Edmundson finished with almost 200 yards (unofficial) on the game and a touchdown. The Wildcats got down early, but a botched punt return by the Tigers resulted in great field position for the Wildcats midway through the first quarter. The Wildcats would put together a nice drive and cap it off with a 1 yd TD sneak by QB Justin Andrews making the score 7-7. The Tigers would take a 14-7 lead as their second QB of the night came in and scored on a 3 yd TD run. Norman would lead 14-7 at the half and receive the ball to open the 2nd half, where they would drive the length of the field and score on a 8 yd td catch by WR Mark Williams making the score 21-7. The Wildcats would answer on the ensuing drive with their own 8 yd TD throw from Andrews to Daylan Hawkins. That was Hawkins 2nd TD catch of the year. The game was there for the taking, but several mistakes down the stretch including a dropped interception, dropped 1st down passes and an interception were too much to overcome for the Wildcats. Norman would slam the door on the game when a hail marry type pass into the end zone was caught by WR Andrew Young. The Wildcats will finish their season on Friday night at home against Muskogee. It will be senior night, so come support the Wildcats’ seniors.
