The Ponca City Lady Cats won their 6th in a row on Thursday night, defeating Carl Albert 55-27. The Ryley Beard and Ally Jennings scored 12 a piece and Madison Birnbaum added 11 and several blocked shots to lead the Lady Cats. The Lady Cats took a 9 point lead into halftime and then their defense came to play in the 2nd half only giving up 7 pts in the 3rd quarter and shutting out Carl Albert in the 4th. Other scoring for Ponca City: Trinity Reginer 4, Kasandra Lyons 2, Karis Branstetter 2, Kierstin Crowder 3, Amaya Chandler 2, Julissa Garcia 5. Only one Titan’s player scored in double figures as Dava Guy had 11 in the 1st half but was shut out in the 2nd half. The Lady Cats are now 16-5.

The Wildcats played tough but the #2nd ranked Carl Albert team was just too much as they pulled away for a 84-39 win. The first meeting of the season between the two teams, guard Mason Harrell scored a season high 52 points, but the Wildcat’s defense was much better holding him to a still solid 26. Ponca City just could never find the outside shot, but Chase Matson and Sheldon Tawkoyty both played well inside with 7 & 8 respectively, before fouling out of the contest. Anthony Gazaway would also finish the game strong leading the team with 9 pts. Carl Albert just has to many weapons as Trey Hopkins, who didn’t play in the first meeting, had 17 pts including three monster dunks. Jason Taylor would add 4 threes on his way to 16. Other Ponca City scoring: PO Seals 2, Chazz Shymanski 7, Luke Seals 4, Jordan George 2. Ponca City moves to 2-18 on the season.
